This Practice is a training practice and as such hosts doctors and other health professional students at various levels of training.


GP Registrar

A GP Registrar is a fully qualified doctor with at least 3 years of hospital experience, who is training to be a GP. They will treat most patients independently.


ITP – Integrated Training Post

This is a fully qualified doctor with at least 2 years training in hospital, who may not want to be a GP. They will see patients but seek advice if necessary.


Foundation Doctor

The foundation doctor is a fully qualified doctor with 1 year of hospital experience who may or may not want to be a GP. They will see patients but will seek advice if necessary.


Medical Students

Students will be in their final years of training to become a doctor and are therefore not qualified. They will see patients independently but the patient will always be seen by a doctor or nurse as well. This is an invaluable part of medical students training and hope you will agree to see one of these students if asked.

Our Nursing Team

Sam Howard

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Sam is a highly experienced registered nurse with a nurse prescribing qualification. She undertakes all chronic disease management reviews and has specialist experience in COPD, Asthma, IHD and Diabetes. 

She takes a lead on smear taking in the practice, immunised babies in the baby clinic and is available for general health advice regarding diet and smoking cessation. 

Additionally she gives family planning advice and depo-provera injections. She is also involved in the training of medical students and junior Doctors in the practice and is Nurse Lead and has recently qualified as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

Carly Rigby

Advanced Nurse Practitioner
& Non-Medical Prescriber

Carly is an experienced registered nurse with over 10 years experience working within elderly care and acute medicine.  Carly transferred to general practice 2 years ago and recently qualified as an advanced nurse practitioner. She can diagnose and treat acute and chronic illness. 

Carly has a personal interest in mental health and well-being and dermatology.

Charlotte Cusick

Nurse

Charlotte is a registered general nurse with a background in emergency care and district nursing. Charlotte carries out chronic disease management for diabetes, COPD, asthma, ischaemic heart disease and cervical screening amongst other various health screening.

She runs the weekly baby clinic, gives travel advice and vaccinations and various other injections including Prostrap, Zoladex, B12, and Depo Provera injections and offers family planning advice.

She has recently become our learning disability lead nurse and has a diploma in Ear Care.

Angela Foster

Healthcare Assistant

Angela is trained to support the nursing team. She is not a registered general nurse but has specific skills and training which enable her to carry out tasks such as routine blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, 24 hour blood pressure monitoring and spirometry.

She also supports the team in other ways such as administration and monitoring of equipment.

Nurse Practitioner Students

Are experienced registered nurses who will tend to be in their final year of advanced training to become a nurse practitioner.

They can see and treat patients independently but may discuss or ask a doctor or the nurse practitioner to see patients if necessary.

Practice Manager

Our practice manager Sharon Chamley is the longest serving member of the practice who joined us in 1988.

Sharon’s responsibilities lay in developing the practice, improving services, managing overall administration and day to day running of the surgery.

Patient Communications Lead

Our Patient Support Team provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. 

They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query.

Our Patient Support Team make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

Community Midwives

Midwives provide care for pregnant and newly delivered women both at home and at the antenatal clinic.

Antenatal clinic is held on Fridays between 10am-12noon at the surgery.

Community Nurses

District Nurses visit patients who have been referred by the doctor or hospital and who have a nursing need in their own homes.  Additionally they hold a surgery in the health centre for ongoing care.

School Nurses

Work with families and school age children to improve health and social circumstances. School nurses provide a useful link between the family, school and healthcare. Children can access them through the schools.

Health Visitors

Health visitors work with families with young children to improve their health and social circumstances. The Well Baby Clinics are held on Tuesday at The Grange Children’s Centre, Highfield Grange Avenue between 9.30-11.30am and Thursdays at Community Reception, Upper Ground Floor, Worsley Mesnes Health Centre, Poolstock Lane between 1.30pm-5pm.
